Arizona Shines at Agility World Championships

Nearly 1,000 of the world’s best canine athletes competed for five days straight at WestWorld of Scottsdale last week, including approximately 150 local Arizona competitors. While many Arizona competitors did well throughout the competition, nine Arizona competitors made it into the finals in three of the four tournaments offered at the event.

Performance Grand Prix (National Championship)

  • Bill Molloy with Cork, a Border Collie from Paradise Valley, 1st place, 16-inch jump height
  • Jeff Arnett with Lexi, a Shetland Sheepdog from Gilbert, 4th place, 12-inch jump height

Performance Speed Jumping (Prize money)

  • Brenda Kautz with Focus, a Pappillion from Gilbert, 4th place, 8-inch jump height
  • Stacy Peardot-Goudy with SoBe, a Border Collie from Phoenix, 8th place, 16-inch jump height
  • Monica Busy with Squid Vicious, a Border Collie from Flagstaff, 2nd place, 20-inch jump height

Steeplechase (Prize money)

  • Elicia Calhoun with Tobie, a Border Collie from Paradise Valley, 3rd place, 26-inch jump height
  • Anita Grady with Vevue Rouge, a Border Collie from Glendale, 9th place, 26-inch jump height
  • Stacy Peardot-Goudy with Journey, a Border Collie from Phoenix, 12th place, 26-inch jump height

Grand Prix of Dog Agility World Championship

  • Kodie Levine with Cracker, a Border Collie from Tempe, 9th place, 22-inch jump height
    • This was Kodie’s first time competing at this event, and to place in the Finals is quite noteworthy

Cynosport is a unique, spectator friendly event. Besides watching the top agility competitors from around the world compete, other exciting “paws on” events are offered to promote responsible pet ownership including Splash Dogs, lure coursing and an “Agility 101” event.

The event is hosted by the United States Dog Agility Association, the world’s largest, indepenent canine sports authority. We’re dedicated to promoting the sport of dog agility as a recreational, family sport that fosters responsible pet ownership.

The dates for the 2017 Cynosport World Games are Oct. 25 – 29, 2017 in Murfreesboro, TN.
