Arizona conference offers opportunity to join the “green rush”

“Imagine if Google, Yahoo, and AOL offered a class about how to get a job in the tech industry in the 90s. This conference offers the opportunity to learn about the future of an industry that will be just as lucrative,” says Demitri Downing, conference chair of the 2nd annual Southwest Cannabis Conference and Expo which will be held at the Phoenix Convention Center.

On Friday October 14th, Medicine Man Technologies, a leading Colorado marijuana consulting firm will be hosting a Marijuana Boot Camp. The class will give information about all possible routes of employment in America’s fastest growing industry. Areas covered will include cultivation, retail, extraction, edible production, testing, as well as professional services.

31 new medical marijuana dispensary licenses were granted last week by the Arizona Department of Health Services. Arizona already has a thriving marijuana economy which employs thousands of Arizonans. The Phoenix New Times estimates that more than $215 million of marijuana was sold in 2015. While this number itself is impressive it doesn’t even take into account the millions of dollars made by providers of ancillary services who provide products and services to dispensaries and patients.

In addition to Friday’s boot camp, Herbal Risings, a local business which educates people about how to work in dispensaries, will be teaching their bi-monthly course on the expo floor on Saturday (10/15) and Sunday (10/16) as well. The other brands exhibiting at the Expo will represent some of the largest marijuana employers. Attendees are being encouraged to bring resumes and ask questions about how to become employed in this industry.
