PHOENIX – The local Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program will honor residents in the over 1,500 skilled nursing, assisted living and adult foster care facilities in Maricopa County for Residents’ Rights Month. Residents’ Rights Month is an annual event held in October by the National Consumer Voice for Quality Long-Term Care that celebrates and raises awareness about residents’ rights.
The theme for Residents’ Rights Month 2016 is, “My Vote Matters” with the goals of educating the community about residents’ rights to vote and participate in the political process.
The Long-Term Care Ombudsman Program staff and volunteers daily promote residents’ rights, but also advocate for quality of life and care, conduct community education sessions, and support residents and their families with consultation regarding the long-term care system. For more information or to inquire about volunteering, contact the Area Agency on Aging, Region One 602-264-2255.
