WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today’s political atmosphere is more polarizing than ever before, leaving young voters feeling ignored, uninterested, and under represented. With that in mind, Young Americans for Liberty (YAL) released an online advertisement as part of its Fall 2016 National Recruitment Drive. This national recruitment drive will include 500 events on over 400 campuses, seeking to engage with hundreds of thousands of young voters from across the political spectrum.

According to Pew Research, an estimated 69 million millennials are of voting age, which means that for the first time, millennials match Baby Boomers as the largest electorate. Millennials make up the most diverse, entrepreneurial and educated generation in history and they do not fit neatly into a red or blue box. YAL seeks to promote the ideas of individual liberty to hundreds of thousands of students this fall.

“Through aggressive recruitment efforts, YAL seeks to transform all apathetic students into dedicated liberty activists. Expanding the reach of the ideas of liberty starts with the individual, and at YAL we seek to empower those who wish to challenge the status quo with real solutions,” Executive Director Cliff Maloney Jr. said.

TRANSCRIPT:

I stand for liberty. I stand against a justice system that imprisons non-violent offenders in perpetuity. I stand against outdated drug laws that put kids behind bars, that keep them from finding jobs, ruining lives and creating scars.

I stand for privacy. I stand for a generation raised on technology. I stand against a government that invades personal privacy, spying on innocent civilians, indefinitely detaining American citizens in exchange for a false sense of security.

I stand for peace. I stand for a less aggressive foreign policy. I stand against trillions of dollars pumped into wars that only create instability. I stand against thousands of lost lives. What do we have to show for our sacrifice?

I stand for responsibility. I stand against too big to fail bank bailouts. I stand for a balanced budget and tax cuts. I stand against Federal Reserve handouts and 18 trillion in debt handed down to my generation.

I stand for a strong and prosperous nation. I stand for political authenticity, leaders who believe in the power of individual liberty.

I stand against the status quo, old men in suits constantly toeing the party line. I stand with the anti-establishment.

I am a Young American for Liberty. I joined Young Americans for Liberty because our country’s future is too important, because the youth’s voice matters, because it is time to stand up for peace. I joined Young Americans for Liberty because the time to act is now.
