Relics of the Past campaign begins

The iconic Buffalo Chip Saloon & Steakhouse is rallying residents and visitors to join a first of-a-kind campaign, Relics of the Past, which is focused on rebuilding the heart of the Buffalo Chip Saloon & Steakhouse.

According to owner Larry Wendt, the Buffalo Chip, which currently is under reconstruction, plans to adorn a large wall inside of the new venue with western items – relics, photos and artifacts – 8 X 10 and larger;

•Western aficionados can make a donation to “purchase” a space/place on the wall, which will become part of Buffalo Chip history

• The western-filled wall, covered in love and memories, will bring good luck to the structure that will support the mighty Buffalo Chip as it emerges in fall 2016

•100 percent of the proceeds from the Relics of the Past wall will benefit Ecclesia: Church at the Chip, a 501(c)(3) entity

However, Relics of the Past is more than the creation of a one-of-a-kind western wall in Cave Creek’s most iconic saloon and steakhouse. It is about pulling together some of the most unique western relics around to “westernize” the Chip’s new interiors and exteriors. Interesting western relics such as an old telegram, an amazing pair of spurs, a cowboy hat from long ago, photos from the 1800s, a scrub board or chaps from eras past, would be welcome, for example.

“We want to ensure the past history for our great, beloved customers, both current and future, and envision the future with you,” says Wendt. “This special wall will memorialize our great community, the people and experiences that have shaped our success and favorite memories for all time.”

The collection of items and space sign-ups will take place on Saturday, September 3 and Sunday, September 4 and Saturday, September 10 and Sunday, September 11, 2016 at the Chip from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Buffalo Chip Saloon & Steakhouse is located at 6823 E. Cave Creek Road, Cave Creek, Ariz., 85331.
