It’s Art For Land’s Sake thanks

Arizona’s Sunset by Maria Varga-Hansen, a.k.a. Vargamari; Jewel of the Creek Preserve.

Many thanks to the artists, volunteers and art purchasers who supported the second annual It’s Art For Land’s Sake exhibition and sale!

Desert Foothills Land Trust solicited works of art that celebrated DFLT preserves, including Jewel of the Creek Preserve, P.A. Seitts Preserve at Go John Canyon, and other local treasures. The resulting entries were juried by renowned Scottsdale artist Charles H. Pabst and the 50 finalists were displayed in an exhibition at the Desert Foothills Library from March 7-12.

Artists that were selected for inclusion in the exhibition and sale were: Mary M. Boehm, Judy Bruce, Casey Cheuvront, Joye DeGoede, Cynthia Eral, Chris Finefrock, Linda Garrett, Linda Howell, Greta Marsalis, Charlotte Moore, Stephanie Newman, Earleen Norris, Peggy Orbon, Toni Perrin, Barbara Hinz Quale, Lanita Reitsma, Nancy Romanovsky, Michele B. Schuck, Charles Todd, Maria Varga-Hansen (a.k.a. Vargamari), Ronnie Wainwright, Jo Watts, Patty Wellens, Diane S. Yasar, and Beth Zink.

The paintings were available for sale, with 25% of the proceeds supporting Desert Foothills Land Trust. This event is a great way to connect our local arts community and open space conservation efforts!

Special thanks to our hosts at Desert Foothills Library, event chairs Sue Mueller and Joanne Rebollo, exhibition curator Carla Cross, juror Charles H. Pabst, and the volunteers, artists and art purchasers who made the event such a success! Look for the call for entries for the 2017 exhibition later this fall.
